Tournament rules.

Start:
September 15th 2023.

There are four separate lines of tournament; a player can participate in one or more:
  • Vínland, Copenhagen Hnefatafl 11x11.
  • Hólmgarðr, Historical Hnefatafl:
    1. Saami Tablut-w 9x9 (round 1)
    2. Tawlbwrdd Lewis cross-w 11x11 (round 2 etc.)
  • Túnsberg, Sea Battle Tafl:
    1. Sea battle-2526 9x9 (round 1)
    2. Sea battle-w 11x11 (round 2 etc.)
  • Álttá, Race games:
    1. Daldøs 3x14 (round 1)
    2. Saami Sáhkku 3x15 (round 2 etc.)

The tournament is a Double-Elimination.

Timing:
x4 (time buffer 5.5 days, incr. per move 8 hours).
When a game lasted a long time, the increment per move is gradually reduced.
Protected miminum time per move 2 hours (!).

Longest time to move 3 days.
If a player does not start any game within 3 days, he is disqualified as a no-show.

Exception: The race games are timed x2 (time buffer 3.5 days, incr. per move 4 hours, same as the ordinary tournaments).

When the time buffer left is less than 1.5 day, a blue warning is shown.
When the time left till timeout is less than 24 hours, a red warning is shown!

Please notice and beware of some changes in the tournament since years back.

Timing.

The timing is much tighter than it was years back.
And if a game lasts a long time, the timing is further tightened, ending in only 2 hours per move. Come this far, the flag will fall soon.
So please beware and don't wait too long with the genious moves.

Elimination.

When you lost 4 games, you're out.
The losses are summed from round to round.

In the first round you meet your equal players.
So beware, the first round is tough.
