The Lappish board game Tablut is a descendant of the Viking board game Hnefatafl. Tablut was played in Lapland until 1700-1800-years. On an expedition in Lapland in 1732, the Swedish botanist Carl von Linné saw Samis play Tablut, and he noted the game rules in his diary. Thanks to this diary, today the game rules for Tablut are known, and thereby also for Hnefatafl.
