Sorry for the slow reply, I had a busy week.
I didn't look much at the code. Both the chess and the go version have a cpp movegen and use tf in the backend, which seems to be the only sane decision at the moment (at least unless you are a big company doing something very unusual).

From the data science perspective they just work along the paper google published.

Not that it plays real well, I'm just tired of working on it. It plays at slightly above a beginner level, and uses a nonstandard rule set based on Damian Walker's. It is s l o w, taking up to a minute to move; and if you win, it might spends hours doing a postmortem.

If you're patient enough to try it out, please let me know of the most egregious weaknesses you find in its play.
