Hi Hagbard
I designed some pieces for the sahkku game. Maybe they're just a bit too detailed, on my screen they're just fine. I suggest you give it a try?
I've done my homework, not knowing the game, so I went for some info on the internet. I understood it's a 'battle of the sexes' between female and male warriors... I thought 'hey, that's a nice touch'... So the white pieces are women, the black ones are men.
Another version features 'queens' but these are not involved in this variant...
I'll send you the the black and white (male and female) pieces, both 'unactivated' and 'activated'. The 'unactivated' king is only a see-through contour because he changes colors during the game, once activated. Then there is of course the black and white king. So in total there are seven pieces. Herewith I give you the king pieces, in next post I'll include the other pieces.

Hope it will work out fine;... If not, well, it was worth trying, no?
(PS you can also use the white king, activated women and activated men as pieces for a tafl variant)
Best regards
Luk

Fine pieces! There is the special problem with sahkku, that pieces also have a direction, a piece can go in one of four directions NWES.

Maybe I could add arrows, but then I have to design 4 different versions of each piece? I'm afraid that's going to ruin the design on a mere 40x40 pixel format...
I thought, pieces can only go one direction in the lower row, the opposite direction in the middle row, and back the original direction in the upper row. Same story for the other army, but in the other way... So does it really matter to point out the direction? I mean, during the game, when you pick a piece to move, you have no choice/possibility to change the direction, no? Or am I completely wrong and playing the game faulty right now?

Greetings
Luk

Hi Hagbard
If the sahkku pieces don't work properly, leave them... have no problem with that.
How about these pieces for the ongoing sea battle tournament?
As always, I'll send them in two posts...

Greetings
Luk

It is too cumbersome with arrows and 4 versions of each piece, in my opinion.
I have another idea some time, not tried it before. If a piece has one direction, fx. looking right, then perhaps the software can flip it when needed to look in the opposite direction, and even rotate it 90 degrees for the squares with vertical movement.

It's true that the pieces movements are unambiguous, but it helps the player that the directions can be seen from the pieces.
