Re: Is there an app for this?

I mostly play this site in my iphone through the safari web browser. Works pretty well. I keep my logged in page open as a web browser tab, and make the logged in page into an app icon. The interface is a bit clunky as an iphone app, but you get used to it. I tend to double tap the board between all moves to get the board to fill the screen, otherwise its a bit small to play comfortably.

Does anyone know if this information is now available at a different location on the internet? If not, does anyone have the content and could post it here? The tim-millar.co.uk website listed in the quote above no longer exists.

Thanks,

The only place I know of is the Internet Archive. However, I just checked there, and it hasn't saved these pages about hnefatafl.
Perhaps Millar has a backup?

And just where would this magical archive be? Have checked out http://aagenielsen.dk/ and playtaflonline.com - no luck.

I am assuming that tim millar is the legendary "crust". Is it best to contact him through this forum or another address?

BTW - Play Tafl Online is not working at present - have emailed the Admin guy Tuireann - any other suggestions.

Thanks for the help

In case anybody is interested I'd love to contribute my knowledge about the game. While I've slightly gotten out of shape (Casshern and Plantagenet would almost surely beat me right now) recent years, I feel like there are a few basic concepts that really help with understanding game positions (gambling pieces, sparse, second/third row, row/block defenses, arms, barricades, attack (in-)direction).

I don't have to resources to compile that into something that can be easily understood. If somebody is interested to do that, I'd be glad to help with my understanding of the game.

I played with a friend 11x11 king unarmed. King shell get in the corner.
You should try the Sea Battle 11x11, which is the variant you already know. Except that the king wins on the edge instead of corner.

The win on corner vs win on edge is the biggest change one can think of.

The main variant we have explored and found relatively solid is Copenhagen Hnefatafl (which is an extension of Fetlar Hnefatafl, so you can try that first if you want to get started). The issue with the draws can be much easier solved in Copenhagen Hnefatafl than in Feltar Hnefatafl, where white has nearly to no leverage if black plays correctly.
