Crikey. I have completed about 715 games in the last two years, which is approx 8% of them, which proves that quantity does not always equal quality. Jrton80 must have played even more.

I can certainly confirm that quantity and quality are two totally different concepts... :) Here I am, about a year-and-a-half- on this site (or maybe two years?) and I played over a thousand games... My ranking is an even 1300 now. ;)

About everyday tournaments.
(Copied from small forum.)

2021-04-09 Abbas Agraphicus asked:
@Hagbard: what do you think of the proposal to have n days (say a week) to join a tournament, and then every player starts the same day?
The solution now used emphasizes the flexibility for the players: within the one week window they can join and begin the games immediately.
A one week window gives room for many tournaments, four per month. And starting the games immediately lets the tournaments finish as quickly as possible.
In a tournament you might have many games, in the recent Fetlar fx. 16 games, therefore the tournament timing is x2.
The recent World tournament Final was a lesson in a shortcoming of the x2 timing, in that this Final lasted for 3 months.
Therefore the timing has been modified so that x2 and x10 games cannot be this extremely long in time (of course x10 games still have extraordinarily much time).
The time used for a x2 game is limited by:
At start a player has a time buffer of 4 days and 25 hours free time per move, and his game can never timeout before 25 hours.
When the sum of his thinking time exceeds 4 days (normally happens after 8 days, 2 players x 4 days), then his free time per move gradually falls from 25 hours to 13 hours.
New:
When the sum of his thinking time exceeds 8 days (normally happens after 16 days, 2 players x 8 days) and he has no more time buffer, then the time before his game can timeout gradually falls from 25 hours to 13 hours.

2021-10-29 Draganov asked:
@Hagbard, I can see that the next tournament will be Daldøs 3x14. These kind of games (Sahkku and Daldøs) are very easy-going and they are finished in less days than the tafl tournaments. In my opinion it would be better if you organize more than one tournament in the same time. These tournaments are not as serious and tough as the world championships and could be played more regularly. So, in this way, we could test a lot of variants. I mean we could play at the same time not only Sahkku and Daldøs but also some minor and inferior variants such as Tyr, Simple Tafl, Brandubh. I think an active player could easily play in two tournaments like Brandubh and Tablut simultaneously.
After the world championship is over, I think it would be good to have more than one tournament running in the same time.

Copied from small forum 2021-08-28:

The aim of this site is to as well as possible center around the roots of historical board games in Scandinavia/Europe.
And so it covers now tafls and old Saami games.
And as well slight variations from this center, such as three types of tafl kings, three types which can also be said to now have historical roots since they are described in hundred year old game books; sometimes due to misunderstandings and mistranslations, but they are there.
And the Berserk and Tyr games which are variations merging rules from very closely related historical games.

Hagbard, is there any tendency which part of the year is the busiest? When players are most active and least active?
