The name does not exist in any other language. Pronounced as three vowels and no consonants.

Re: Brandubh at Dublin(Ohio) Irish Festival

Went to Dublin Irish Festival in Dublin, Ohio. Thanks!!! A most interesting report. the teacher; Father Stephen Hayes. ... his rule set for Brandubh was a little different than what we play here in that it was lacking a few details and had a strong king. He played a throne that was not hostile and ...

Re: Hnefatafl Internet Championship

Many Copenhagen players find Historical Hnefatafl difficult and vice versa. So as to not exclude too many skilled Copenhagen players from the final because they're having a hard time with the Hist.Hnef., it could be wise to widen the door a bit and allow 8 players to the final, 2 players from each o...

Re: Tawlbwrdd 11x11

Two more test tournaments of the two Tawlbwrdd setups were done to find a best choice for the World Tafl Federation Championship Tournament 2016 round 1. Both setups were found to work all right, the game balances being -1.13 and -1.17, and both setups gave many good games. I went through all the ga...

Re: General rules

When playing a pair of games white/black & black/white simultaneously, it's theoretically possible for a lower rated player to copy all the higher rated player's moves for his own moves. To avoid any risk or suspicion of that, when playing against higher rated players I usually as a common courtesy ...

Re: Historical Hnefatafl

The Historical Hnefatafl rules were used at an Estonian summercamp in USA a few days ago. Altti, New York, reported in the small forum: 2016-07-12 altti: went to Estonian summercamp this weekend to teach the children Tafl. I used Ard Ri and Tablut for demo and gave them printouts of other variant ru...

Re: Hnefatafl Internet Championship

Could be done this way: If the 2015 tournament with 23 players had run by these rules, there would've been these three preliminary groups: adam, sqaree, steiger, epoc, vonraider, imaxuncut, patterson altti, animals, duhawk93, arevidar, sybil, mykle, dansuno, xerxes docbullen, crust, mmagari, kratze...

Re: Hnefatafl Internet Championship

I realise that increasing the number of players proceeding from the first stage will increase the number of Copenhagen games in the final stage, but I think two players should proceed from each group to the final stage. Could be done this way: 24 players. Round 1: 3 groups of 8 players, makes 14 ga...

Re: Hnefatafl Internet Championship

After played a series of games, I fear that the Tablut 9x9 is too short a game for a World Championship tournament. One severe mistake and you're done with. The game should be long enough for a player to still have a chance when played well. This leaves the Tawlbwrdd 11x11 (Bell or Lewis cross).

Re: Hnefatafl Internet Championship

I see the reasons for which you decide to drop Copenhagen Tafl in the first round but it would still prevent me from joining the tournament. Copenhagen Tafl for the win! Very sorry to hear that; we shouldn't interfere too much with the outcome of the tournament. Perhaps also other players have a pr...
