Re: Nath-project
If I'd just be about tree models Jay aka Fishbreath would already have solved it. A naive tree approach without further intelligence works great on a 7x7 board, but sucks using big boards. I'm extremely late to the party here, but I should point out that OpenTafl's tree search is between 100 and 10...

Re: Neural networks artificial intelligence
Oh, data! Excellent. One of these days, I'm hoping to compile a corpus of games in OpenTafl save-game format; I already have a converter for PlayTaflOnline, but still need to write one to handle games from here. If you have more data in that format, I might go ahead and write a parser. As far as neu...

Surrounding victory plus corner escape
I'm playing an alea evangelii game with a friend of mine, and found an interesting edge case in the rules: I had fully surrounded him, but some of his pieces were at the edge of the board, so OpenTafl's surrounding-detection code did not rule it a victory. Play is ongoing, and it seems likely he'll ...

Re: Alea Evangelii 19x19
Something I would like to test some day is alea evangelii with some Berserk-style pieces—though jump-captures are blatantly ahistorical, the layout in alea evangelii so heavily favors the attackers that they may be necessary to balance the game.

Re: A human representative against the machines
v0.3.2.0b is released! This is the stable release for v0.3.x, so it should be around for a good long while. (Future updates will likely not touch the user-facing mechanics much, in favor of speed and accuracy improvements for the AI.)

Re: A human representative against the machines
v0.3.0.0b has been released here, and the server is running. The second prerelease remains compatible with the 0.3.0.0b server.

Re: A human representative against the machines
There's a new prerelease posted (the link in the post above has been updated). This one improves the server lobby experience, alerting players when other players connect/disconnect and providing a list of currently-connected players.

Re: A human representative against the machines
I've posted a prerelease version [link not working] of OpenTafl v0.3.0.0b, which has network play enabled. (The default server setting, intersect.manywords.press, is my personal webserver; there should be a server running there most of the time, except when it crashes.) There isn't really a way to t...

Re: A human representative against the machines
Shorter isn't necessarily the goal, so much as 'eventually decisive'. Threefold repetition, fatal surrounding, and no draw forts make for a game which is much more likely to end than a Fetlar game. They may in some cases take a long time, but threefold repetition catches all but the most elaborate d...
