Re: Hnefatafl Internet Championship
I realise that increasing the number of players proceeding from the first stage will increase the number of Copenhagen games in the final stage, but I think two players should proceed from each group to the final stage. Could be done this way: 24 players. Round 1: 3 groups of 8 players, makes 14 ga...

Re: Hnefatafl Internet Championship
After played a series of games, I fear that the Tablut 9x9 is too short a game for a World Championship tournament. One severe mistake and you're done with. The game should be long enough for a player to still have a chance when played well. This leaves the Tawlbwrdd 11x11 (Bell or Lewis cross).

Re: Hnefatafl Internet Championship
I see the reasons for which you decide to drop Copenhagen Tafl in the first round but it would still prevent me from joining the tournament. Copenhagen Tafl for the win! Very sorry to hear that; we shouldn't interfere too much with the outcome of the tournament. Perhaps also other players have a pr...

Re: Hnefatafl Internet Championship
In a month (August 1st) sign in will begin for the World Tafl Federation Championship 2016. You can sign in all August, there'll be a button for it, and the games will begin September 1st. The previous two years we've tournamented two rounds, all games being by Copenhagen rules. All participants of ...

Re: Alea Evangelii 19x19
http://aagenielsen.dk/board_unstalea19.png The Unst Alea Evangelii 19x19 was tournament tested and found heavily unbalanced in favour of the attackers. And this in spite of the fact that the defenders are set up very strong, with a strong king (captured from 4 sides) assisted by four strong hirdmen...

Re: Copenhagen Hnefatafl
A "Copenhagen Hnefatafl Bell 11x11" was tried, with the attackers set up in Bell formation. The balance was very bad, +2.82 (282 defenders' wins per 100 attackers' wins). So the best known Copenhagen setup is still with the defenders set up in diamond formation and the attackers in T formation, bala...

Proposition for tournament rules for the World Tafl Federation Championship 2016: Sign up: all August. There will be a facility for signing up for the tournament. Start: September 1st. Tournament rules. Round 1: Historical Hnefatafl 11x11 rules (Welsh Tawlbwrdd) [which of the two possible setups no...

Re: A Swedish-built longship sails to North America
A Swedish-built longship I'd believe the ship is Norwegian built. In the coming days and weeks it arrives at Quèbec, Oswego, Toronto, Fairport, Bay City, Green Bay, Chicago, Duluth and New York: http://www.drakenexpeditionamerica.com/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-3622523/The-Vikin...
