Re: Where to buy the game?
I ordered my History-Craft "The Viking Game" set from NorseAmerica. Quick service. I have no skill at creating things by hand so here are some of the random sets I have found: Cyningstan's shop sells a few different sets including the History-Craft "The Viking Game" set. UK based Worldwide Shipping....

Re: Brandubh at Dublin(Ohio) Irish Festival
Also, the test games showed that the corners being friendly and thus allowing attackers to block easily by occupying the squares neighbouring the corners, that this was not a problem for the game. I think that black having only the exact number of pieces to block all the exits make it difficult sin...

Re: Hull Hnefatafl Tournament 2017
I'm giving some early publicity for a hnefatafl event next year, so if anyone here is interested it gives you time to make some travel plans. I am already planning on attending; having a fair few mates along that latitude in England they have volunteered their spare room/couches to me in case of a ...

Re: Brandubh at Dublin(Ohio) Irish Festival
Funny you should say that, one of my Dutch friends has family living in Denmark and he understands a lot of Danish and has no idea where he learned it. I believe Danish is also the only language with a direct translation of the Dutch word 'Gezellig'. 'Hyggeligt' I think.

Re: Brandubh at Dublin(Ohio) Irish Festival
The rules he posited were very interesting though I don't know how well they would work in serious play. In the students games White won almost every game(which quite frankly could be due to the way new players play) except where we helped to teach strategy with a bit more depth. I am curious how th...

Brandubh at Dublin(Ohio) Irish Festival
Went to Dublin Irish Festival in Dublin, Ohio. Saw they were teaching Brandubh through a couple reenactment groups so when I arrived I got in touch with the teacher; Father Stephen Hayes. He is an avid archaeology/history fanatic so we got to talking about the origin of the game and it was very inte...

Re: Hnefatafl Internet Championship
Personally I'm more inclined to join if the first round is HHTawlbwrdd or HHTablut. I feel more excluded by a championship where it's purely Copenhagen since I am not a fan of any of the strong king variants I have played.

Re: Historical Hnefatafl
Oooooooooooh I thought you meant that as an alternate interpretation! :P my bad. I've never seen a variant rule set with it recently however the old Hnefatafl java applet had a version of this where you could set the 'Hostile' to 'King' And anyone, even an ally to the King, could be captured a...
