Re: Fetlar Hnefatafl

In the Fetlar game, as outlined by the Fetlar Hnefatafl Panel, it is always possible for white to create a center draw fort in his first two moves, and nothing can stop it. This imperfection of the Fetlar rules of course spoils the game, and something had to be done to prevent white from doing that....

Re: Hnefatafl Internet Championship

Yet another scheme: Round 1 is roughly half of the players, with the lower ratings. One winner from each group goes to Round 2. Round 2 is rest of the players plus winners from Round 1. One winner from each group goes to the Final. This scheme in work last year 2017 would look like this: Registered...

Re: Advices?

And just where would this magical archive be? Have checked out http://aagenielsen.dk/ and playtaflonline.com - no luck. Yes the Internet Archive is real magic. Millars website saved March 22nd 2018 is here: https://web.archive.org/web/20180322075054/http://www.tim-millar.co.uk/ I am assuming that t...

Re: Hnefatafl Internet Championship

Change to the door of Valhal selection: Masters' qualification round. Certain masters have only one qualification round before the final. Their group is "Dyrr Valhöls" (Old Norse for door of Valhal). Players starting in Dyrr Valhöls are (if they register to join): All players who were in the Valhöll...

Re: Hnefatafl Internet Championship

Thank you for the input! I like the idea to have a Masters group. However, I would like to see at least 3 players come out of this group, not just 2. This group will be very difficult to advance from. I think it would be a shame to lose 3 or 4 top players before the actual final round. ... We could ...

Re: Advices?

Crust has some great advice http://www.tim-millar.co.uk/section509308.html Does anyone know if this information is now available at a different location on the internet? If not, does anyone have the content and could post it here? The tim-millar.co.uk website listed in the quote above no longer exi...

Re: Named move patterns

http://aagenielsen.dk/twintowers.png This board position I'd like to name The Twin Towers! The situation emerged in a Historical Hnefatafl 13x13 game against Casshern. Black's Twin Towers are safe and cannot be touched by white. In the twin towers black can lie in wait until the six free whites are...

Re: Hnefatafl Internet Championship

Right now an American Championship Tournament 2018 is running (North & South America). What about a European Championship Tournament 2018 beginning Sep. 15th? For players not in North or South America and not already grandmasters. Winner is International Master. If the World Championship is run as p...

Re: Hnefatafl Internet Championship

Here's my proposition for the World Championship tournament rules this year, starting Sep. 15th. Notice that a short route to the final is proposed for the masters. It's proposed that only group winners proceed to the next round. But all of us who don't expect to make it all the way, should join an...

Re: Hnefatafl Internet Championship

The next World Championship tourn. in September could have 3 rounds: Round 1: Players distributed in groups of 3 or 4. The groups are named after Midgård viking locations, Vinland, Fornebei etc. The group winners proceed to round 2. Round 2: Players again distributed in groups of 3 or 4. The groups ...
