Re: Gaming activity
Crikey. I have completed about 715 games in the last two years, which is approx 8% of them, which proves that quantity does not always equal quality. Jrton80 must have played even more.

Re: Hnefatafl Internet Championship
I'm with Squaree on this. I've no objection to a separate Masters Tournament for those who wish to play one. However, the World Championship should be open to all, and while there may be some seeding of higher-ranked players into the second round there should be reasonable opportunity for lower rank...

Re: World Tafl Federation
Aage, thankyou for mentioning me, but I have no wish to be Chairman. I'm happy to support anybody else on your list who would like to take it on, and I think you should add yourself to the list of those would would make good a good chair/vice-chair. Perhaps we should define the parameters of the rol...

Re: Gaming activity
Interesting. Even if you take out the Copenhagen games (which may be high due to World Championship etc), the 11x11 board is the clear favourite size. I think perhaps because a bigger board in general makes for a longer game with more strategy options, but too big a board becomes unamanagable, and g...

Re: Tafl in Russia
That seems to be true of the western part of Russia - but what of the far east, eg Siberia, Kamchatka, Chukokta ? I assume that was too far for them ?

Re: General rules
I think allowing King capture against the edge in Copenhagen would make a big difference to the game, and so would need some extensive testing (one of the problems with short testing (eg a one-off tournament with a few players) is that it does not allow strategies to develop against a new rule).

Re: New proposal variant for hnefatafl
Have played a few games of this, and it works quite well. It gives both players more options, and more to think about. It makes edge forts more difficult to make, giving Black an advantage, so perhaps take out both Shieldwall Capture and Edge Forts to equalise that. It would need a lot more games ag...
