Re: World Tafl Federation

I second everything Hagbard wrote. Tim and I agreed to keep the Wtf open and simple. The only thing that ever gets stipulated is that if people want to affiliate to the Wtf and use its logo, they should promote the official rules used on Aagenielsen.dk. This does not shut out the promotion of other ...

Re: General rules

I think adding the corner rule/trying it out on sea tafl is a good idea as it makes sense with the geography of the game, namely open sea. I don't think we should implement this rule in historical hnefatafl for two reasons: Firstly because the game is working so beautifully and is (Finally) in conco...

Re: Alea Evangelii 19x19

Interesting stuff! I need to reread the language analysis more carefully, but here are my initial thoughts on a quick read through. I think there are some fair points here, the evidence for Alea is full of holes, and it is only one source, seen in the context of a few other patchy tafl sources. Its ...

Re: Alea Evangelii 19x19

So. Alea berserk. It made for a playable game. I am keen to hear any feedback regarding its playability. I must admit the black opening ring still feels a bit like a brick wall, but I think that's probably the point of the game, breaking the blockade. I suspect this to be a tactical problem and not ...

Re: Alea Evangelii 19x19

I like this conversion idea. I hadn't actually thought of all the pieces being reversible like Othello pieces, but that could be an interesting experiment. I meant just the four pieces marked as variable. I'd still like to try my version, just because I've loaded in as much fire power and special mo...

Re: Hnefatafl Internet Championship

All thanks to Hagbard for this exhaustive testing of methods. It looks like this is wrapped up now. Some final thoughts from me: The hypothetical question here is 'how does my (for example) fourth place in my group compare to the other fourth places from the other groups? Am I 1st 4th, 2nd 4th, or 4...
